Hi I’m Zoë!
I’m 17 and I love skiing. There’s nothing quite like it. The rush when I land a new trick, the feeling of flying through the air, or that quiet focus right before a competition run. Skiing just gives me this freedom and drive that Ive only found one place else, skateboarding . At home, skateboarding is known as the mother of all freestyle sports. I got into it growing up in Singapore, and it’s still my go-to when I need to reset. When I skate, I don’t overthink, I just flow. It’s helped shape how I approach freeskiing too, and im forever grateful for the sport.
What I really love about skiing is the commitment it takes. I enjoy setting goals and working towards them. Hitting a new milestone or unlocking something I’ve worked hard for is one of the best feelings. This sport has also opened up so many doors for me, especially through travel. Skiing has taken me all over the world and introduced me to amazing people and cultures. I’ve developed a huge love for languages. I speak a mix of Dutch, German, and English at home (we call it “Derlish”) and I’ve kept up my Chinese since leaving Singapore by taking online classes twice a week.
Over the past few years, I’ve been through some tough injuries. In 2023, I tore my ACL, MCL ans meniscus, and just last December I had surgery done on that same knee for knee cartilage damage.
But I’ve learned a lot from them, about resilience, patience, and what it really takes to become pro. I’ve picked up new hobbies, pushed through rehab, and stayed focused on what I love most: being on snow and chasing big goals.
Looking ahead, I’ve got some big dreams. Competing at the Olympics, the X-Games, and World Champs, filming a ski movie, and starting a podcast all about freeskiing and the stories around it. I’d love to study abroad one day, maybe start something of my own, and just live a life full of travel, creativity, and adventure on and off the mountain.
