Hi I’m Zoë
I’m 18 and I love skiing. There’s nothing quite like it.
When asked why, my answer will always be the freedom of it. Skiing is expression and creativity. You push yourself because you want to get better and you want to learn new things, not because others want you to. Skiing is a different world and I’m so lucky to have it.
Thanks to my awesome dad I grew up skating. In our house we call skateboarding the mother of all freestyle. It really is. Skating has taught me so much. It’s my safety net and it’s there for me when I need an escape.
Skiing has also opened up so many doors for me, especially through travel. The sport has taken me all over the world and introduced me to amazing people and cultures. I’ve developed a love and respect for languages. I speak a mix of Dutch, German, and English at home and I’ve kept up my Chinese since leaving Singapore by taking online classes twice a week.
Over the past few years, I’ve been through some tough injuries. In 2023, I tore my ACL, MCL and meniscus, in December of 2024 I had surgery done on that same knee for knee cartilage damage and not even a year later I tore my right ACL, PCL and meniscus in China.
Rehab and injuries feels like losing a part of yourself every time, and even if its hard to accept I am grateful for what they have taught me.
Looking ahead, I’ve got some big dreams. Competing at the Olympics, the X-Games, and World Champs, filming a ski movie, and starting a chanel to document my adventures on . I’d love to study abroad one day, maybe start something of my own, I want to be a good friend and just live a life that I can look back on and be proud of one day.
